one. year.
yesterday was my first birthday. obviously, i'd never had a birthday before, but it wasn't so bad.
before i talk about that, though, let me tell you, this has been one amazing year. in the beginning it was mostly a blur, of course, i know that i cried alot because i had colic, and that i got to sleep in mommy and daddy's bed and that i would go to sleep in my carseat without a problem, and so sometimes, they would take me for drives in the middle of the night to help me to sleep. but i didn't know a lot. except that my mommy and daddy and grandma and grandpa and nana and uncle nathan and lots and lots of other people really loved me. i'm a pretty lucky kid, you know.
mommy says i used to be her baby burrito. all wrapped up and snuggled and making funny fish faces. and now i'm a big boy. i can stand on my own, and i clap my hands, blow kisses, use sign language to communicate a little bit, turn the radio on and dance to it, and so many other things. i love my books and i'll sit and read them. i love to push my cars around, and play with the remote control and the phone. i can say 'daddy' 'kitty' 'duck' 'cat' 'wow' and 'uh oh'. i can sometimes even get food into my mouth using a fork or spoon.
i'm a big boy. i want to walk [with help] whenever we got out - no more stroller for me! i love to go to the swimming pool and play in the waves, and to wash my face and brush my teeth, although sometimes i get the two mixed up and try to stick my toothbrush in my ear.
my birthday yesterday was fun. first i spent the day with uncle nathan, and then grandma, because mommy was at work. she went back two weeks ago, and it's been hard. i miss her, but i'm getting used to it. she always come back, and then we can cuddle or play or whatever i want to do.
when mommy came home, she was really busy in the kitchen. i don't know what she was doing, but it seemed important. i tried to help her by hanging onto her legs, but maybe that's not so helpful? i don't know.
anyways, then i took a nap, and then we had some dinner. everyone was eating indian food from the restaurant near our house, and i had some sweet potatoes. i have to admit i was sorta tired and not in the best mood, so i didn't eat many sweet potatoes. mommy gave me some milk and i had fun letting it dribble out of my mouth.
but then, mommy brought me this thing. this... cupcake... thing. it had another thing on it with a light on top. mommy, daddy, grandma and grandpa sang me a song, and then they wanted me to blow out my candle. mommy helped. and then she gave me the cupcake.
oh, sweet nectar of the gods. it was SO yummy. well the top part anyways, i threw the bottom part on the floor when i was done. then i had a bath, and then i got to open a present from grandma and grandpa.
it was a nice birthday. it's been a good year. are you ready for the next one?
here i am. 12 months old, standing!

i love cups. they usually have yummy things in them to drink.

this is me and my nana. she doesn't like to have her picture taken. i don't know why because i think she's pretty.

i got this red car for christmas. pretty neat, huh?

i want the camera. it looks neat.

my birthday cake story, in pictures:
"i don't wanna be in my highchair anymore!"

"oh hang on now, what's that thing?"

"can i please hold it myself?"

"hmmm. what am i supposed to do with this?"

"eat it? okay."

"mmm. icing."

"will this whole thing fit in my mouth?"

"yummy."

birthday wishes from my granana.
